NCNR gratefully accepts many kinds of gifts and support. Every gift, regardless of the amount, helps to further the mission of NCNR to protect the New River.

GIFTS OF CASH are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. NCNR is designated a 501(c)3 charitable organization by the IRS. GIFTS from an IRA, a pension, or other retirement savings plan, can provide tax advantages as well. When you designate NCNR as a beneficiary of your IRA or pension, your estate can save both income and estate taxes.

GIFTS OF STOCK may provide tax benefits including income tax deductions for the fair market value of the stock, and may allow you to decrease your capital gains tax.

BEQUESTS are a wonderful way to provide for the long-term stewardship of the New River. You can name NCNR in your will in a number of ways including an outright gift, either as a designated dollar amount or by designating a percentage of your estate. You can easily add NCNR to your will through an amendment to your current will called a codicil. Your attorney can help you make a provision for NCNR. By doing so, you will become a NEW RIVER LEGACY STEWARD, a group of NCNR supporters who have made planned gifts to us.

GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE may provide both financial and conservation benefits to the donor and to NCNR. Land trusts like NCNR are uniquely suited to receive gifts of land; we can guarantee permanent protection where property is suitable for such protection, or we can accept gifts of land with the intention it will be sold to help preserve significant conservation properties elsewhere. Real property such as personal residences, undeveloped land, or farms, can be transferred by deed with no liability for income or estate taxes on the appreciated value. You will need to consult NCNR and your financial and legal advisors when making a gift of real estate.

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE can allow you to make a tax-deductible gift by naming NCNR as owner or beneficiary. You may purchase a new policy, or, donate a policy you currently own but no longer need.
